This is me again, your blogmeister, Hunt. I also served on a 24-hour movie team (working on technical stuff and music).
Wow, that was hard! Our group had problems with the weather (we tried to outmaneuver the storm, and we were mostly successful), problems with keeping track of and losing footage, problems with staying awake, and finally problems getting the darned thing burned.
But we made it with a whole five minutes to spare. My computer had run like a champ all yesterday (Saturday) afternoon, and I had even done some trial runs burning this and that. The computer went at molasses speed in the crucial period from 11:00p.m. on. Still, we just made it.
I saw at the turn-in that for some teams, the ball didn't bounce right, as it just barely did for us. But I also understand that the movies of those who didn't make the deadline will be shown along with the rest next week (assuming that they get turned in, I guess).
The whole thing was hard, but great fun. Congratulations to everyone! Our team had a lot of fun working on this.

Almost There
Well, the day is almost here. We have had two workshops and a question & answer forum. All went great!
The next thing is the contest next weekend.
But even if some of you missed the workshops, don't think this rules you out. There is still time to get up a team and register. This is a lot of fun and a kind of self-challenge. It will not be crucial to the fate of humanity whether your film is super-great or just so-so.
See you at the the kickoff--11:00pm next Friday.

Moviemaking in this Corner of the Blogosphere
Just a quick report on the state of our blog, and on the online presence of the 24-Hour Script to Screen in general, at least from the standpoint of a lowly volunteer worker.
The idea is to set up a kind of triangulation between the website, the Facebook 24-Hour Script to Screen group, and this blog. By the way, each is changing a bit (or a lot), as we go along, so you might want to keep checking.
On this blog, I can't get Blogger to change the setting for showing all comments, but I should be able to get that done soon.
Signing off, this your 24-Hour S2S Web Vizier: webwise, you can sleep at night knowing that he is awake.

The
Sherman 5:
Hunt, Austin, Matt, Josh, Sam, Sarah, Skyler, Karen
Hello Filmmakers! I just spent a fantastic weekend making a film for the 48-Hour Dallas Film Project. Our team of 8 (inexplicably called 'The Sherman 5') produced a 7-minute film within 48 hours. Actually we had 15 minutes to spare! Working inside metal travel trailers in temperatures topping 115 degrees, coping with little sleep, and fighting mosquitos, our team produced a pretty good film about an off-duty police officer meeting some bad guys. No, we didn't win the festival, and yes, we are all ready to sign up and compete again. None of us could believe it was such fun!
All this to say...you are in for quite a ride if you decide to make a film at the 24-HOUR SCRIPT TO SCREEN competition. My advice? Get some sleep now!!! There are only 8 weeks left, and I suggest you spend most of them sleeping! Or maybe I am just getting too old to pull all-nighters....
